People at Parmenides Foundation  Prof. Dr. Balázs Gulyás


Balázs Gulyás was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1956. He pursued his university studies in medicine and physics in Budapest and in philosophy, law and neurobiology in Leuven, followed by post-doctoral studies in Stockholm and Oxford. Since 1988 he has been affiliated with Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute. His main research field includes cognitive neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, neuroimaging and neuropsychopharmacology.

He has authored nine books, over 30 book chapters, and over 120 publications in peer reviewed journals. He is also the holder of the UNESCO Chair “Science and Society” at the Collegium Budapest – Institute for Advanced Study, Budapest, and a Faculty Member of the Parmenides Foundation for Thinking, Munich. Among other activities, he is the founding director of the World Science Forum series
